Here’s a brief story about a group of 6th-graders from Iowa and one of student’s parent trying to salvage a trip to the White House after suspension of all future tours of the White House due to staff cuts stemming from the sequester.
Better to learn it as a kid than later on: believing in anything remotely political can only lead to disappointment.

My favorite line from it: “…described the D.C. trip as a chance for the students to ‘find out more about how the government works…'” and they did learn how the current government works! In that it doesn’t. They’re still going to DC by the way, they just won’t tour the White House, so there’s that.)
